Awareness Camp for Interstate Migrant Worker's Girls
A one-day awareness camp was jointly organized by the Women and Child Development Department, ASAP Kerala, and Manav Migrant Welfare Foundation for adolescent girls from among the interstate workers. The camp was held at Mangadan Hall, Cheruvelikunnu, Vazhakkulam. Vazhakkulam Grama Panchayat President Gopal Deo inaugurated the camp. Manav Coordinator Sadic Ali presided over the function. Sreeja K S, District Mission Coordinator of the Women and Child Development Department, Ward Member Ashraf, and Manav Treasurer K. K. Basheer delivered speeches. ASAP Program Manager Vishnu Mohan offered the vote of thanks. Social workers Semi P. B., Tajunnisa, Vijayalakshmi Dally, and Jancy Varghese (Project Manager, Rajagiri Outreach Suraksha Migrant Project) conducted classes on topics such as child marriage and legal issues, child safety, menstrual hygiene and care, and the importance of school education. Women and Child Development Department officials Ambili Menon and Jithin P. Reji also attended the event. Awareness leaflets were distributed, and a free medical check-up camp was also conducted with the cooperation of Peace Valley Aster Medcity. Cultural programs performed by the camp members were also staged. More than a hundred people participated as delegates. The event was organized as part of the Central Government's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
